IC693CMM311 Communication coprocessor module
The IC693CMM311 is a communication coprocessor module from the 90-30 series PLC platform. This family of PLCS, in particular the IC693CMM311, was previously manufactured by GE Fanuc, but was recently acquired by Emerson Automation.
The module provides CCM, Remote Terminal Unit (RTU), and SNP connectivity to connect to any controller that hosts the module.
Specifically, the IC693CMM311 is compatible with modular 90-30 series cpus. The IC693CMM311 comes with two (2) communication interfaces, such as port 1 supporting the RS232 standard and port 2 supporting the RS232/RS422 and RS485 electrical standards. Each port is a 25-pin D-shell interface. The module provides a button to restart the communication button to restart the communication without restarting the entire module. The IC693CMM311 port can be configured for various protocol combinations, such as the CCM protocol on both ports; CCM protocol on port 1, RTU protocol on port 2; RTU protocol on port 1, CCM protocol on port 2; RTU protocol on both ports; SNP and SNP-X protocols on two ports; SNP and SNP-X protocols on port 1, CCM protocols on port 2; CCM protocol on port 1, SNP and SNP-X protocol on port 2; SNP and SNP-X protocols on port 1 and RTU protocols on port 2; RTU on port 1, SNP and SNP-X on port 2. CCM, SNP, and RTU support transfer speeds of 300, 600, 1200, 240, 4800, 9600, and 19200 baud rates.
The compatible pre-assembled cable is the Wye connection cable with catalog number IC693CBL305. The MODULE has MODULE OK, PORT 1, and PORT 2 tatus LED indicators to determine the operating status of the module.
The IC693CMM311 module is part of GE Fanuc’s 90-30 series as a CCM or communication coprocessor module. It is designed for high performance. The GE Fanuc Series 90-30 IC693CMM311 communication Coprocessor module is compatible with all modular cpus in the GE Series 90-30 product line. However, it cannot be used with any embedded GE 90-30 CPU, such as 311, 313, or 323 embedded GE cpus. Any GE Fanuc Series 90-30 PLC with a modular CPU will benefit from the installation of the GE IC693CMM311 communication coprocessor module and all its features and functions. The protocols that this communication coprocessor module can support are SNP protocol, Modbus or RTU slave communication protocol, and GE Fanuc CCM communication protocol.
The GE Fanuc Series 90-30 IC693CMM311 communication coprocessor module has 2 built-in serial ports, called Port 1 and Port 2. Port 1 supports RS-232 applications, and port 2 supports RS-232 and RS-485 applications. Both ports are connected to the unique connector of the IC693CMM311 communication coprocessor module, which can make module wiring difficult, but the module comes with a GE Wye cable called the IC693CBL305 Wye cable, which technicians can use to separate the 2 ports and make module wiring easier. The module can be configured using default Settings or configuration software. Some cpus (Model 331 and later) can support up to four of these communication coprocessor modules at a time in their CPU backboards.
